BARASAT:Eight sisters, of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), popularly known as the Salesian Sisters of the Province of Kolkata said courageously their total ‘YES’ to the Lord on May 24, 2021 in spite of the difficult time of pandemicat Auxilium, Aspirantate -Barasaton the feast of Mary Help of Christians and Mary, Mother of the Church.These8 sisters were a representation of unity in diversity of culture and languages. They were namely;Sr. Dominica Josephine Thapa,Sr. LemnomMosang, Sr. Philomena Kuotsu,Sr. RasniTete, Sr. RestitulaKharpran,Sr. NamitaSabhasundar, Sr. PranatiManjariSabhasundar and Sr. RinkiNayak are from the Dioceses of Darjeeling, Miao, Kohima, Rourkela,Shillong and from the Diocese of Berhampur respectively. The Holy Eucharist was held at 7.30 amin the Aspirantate Chapel which was presided over by Most. Rev. Thomas D’Souza, the Archbishop of Kolkataand con-celebrated by Rev. Fr. Biji Thomas SDB. The postulants with their rhythmic steps led them to the altar of the Lord. The Archbishopduring his homily appreciated the sisters for their courage to say “Lord here am I, send me” like that of Abraham in the Old Testament. He pinpointed the message of ‘sacrifice’ from the three readings of the day and invited the assembly tooffer to God all that is keeping us away from God as a gift of sacrifice to God.After the Mass a short felicitation was held in honour the perpetually professed sisters. Covid 19 did not stop the parents, near and dear ones of our sisters to witness the joy of their self- giving to the Lord since the celebration was streamed online. Reported by Sr. Dominica Thapa |
