“Come and See”


BARASAT: The Province level Come & See programme was held at Auxilium Convent School, Barasat from 26th to 30th September 2017. It was organized by Sr. Shanti Tirkey, the vocation pastoral in charge and Sr. Leelamma Palliparambil, the animator of the aspirantate. There were 50 young girls and 8 sisters from 11 communities, two novices and 7 aspirants who took active part in it.

The programme commenced with the inauguration ceremony at 5.30 pm. All the participants entered with a flower in their hand, symbolizing the beauty in the Lord’s Vineyard with differences like a beautiful garden with variety of flowers. Sr. Elizabeth Valliyil, the provincial counselor and the animator of Auxilium Convent School, Bandel represented Provincial Sr. Rose Ezarath. On behalf of Sr. Rose she welcomed everybody and enlightened the young girls with her inaugural speech on the call of God.
He told to choose the life where one will find real happiness. During the next session Sr. Leelamma Palliparambil and Sr. Delpina Teresa Bag spell out to the girls, the call of God with the help of video clips presenting the different personages in the Bible and by animating creative games and questionnaires.

On 27th the Holy Mass was at 6.30 a.m in Auxilium Aspirantate, Bamunmura. Rev. Fr. Sunit Kiro the principal of Don Bosco, Lilua presided over the Mass. During his talk explained the four ways of living the life: Christian living, Family life, Religious life and Single life.

On 15th May 2017, campers came back with renewed vigour to attend the second day of the camp. After the attendance, the day began with a prayer and a hymn in orders to invoke the blessings of God. The first event of the day includes innovative outdoor games like Leg Cricket, Hitting the tail, Dog and the bone and Rama-Ravana. A short Tiffin break followed, after which the girls assembled in the school AV room for the Advertisement competition. Next came a PowerPoint presentation by Fr. Roshan Kullu on the qualities required in order to be a good Leader. Campers had to collect various articles and display them group wise, which brought out their leadership qualities and coordination among the group members. This was followed by lunch which provided various delicacies to satiate their appetites. The interesting and enjoyable of all events was the Fashion Show in which all the campers including Sr. Rejina Joseph, Fr. Roshan Kullu and all the animators had to walk the ramp. Up next came the skit competitions which display the hidden talents of script writing and acting in the campers. This was followed by group dance which had to be prepared on the spot. Then a fashion designing and hair styling event was conducted which all the more exposed their inner possibilities. The title ‘Ms. Camp’ was won by a camper of Red House. Lastly, the campers including Father and Sr. Principal danced to the tune of traditional songs which united them all at the close of the day. At the end of the second day, the winners’ flag was handed over to the captain of the Red House. Girls left for their home eagerly awaiting for the next day.

On the following day the Holy Mass was animated by Fr. Nirmal Jamreet Toppo SDB, the journalist from the community of Bhatanagar. He spoke about the different challenges one face in following the Lord. He put forward his own vocational journey which made the girls very enthused in discerning their vocation.

The third day was animated by Sr. Shanti Tirkey and Sr. Julita Kujur. They presented to the girls the charism and mission of the Institute and the Province mission through PPT and Video clips. In the afternoon girls were invited to evaluate the programme. In the evening there was facility for approaching the sacrament of reconciliation. During the concluding Eucharistic celebration Fr. Tomy SDB appreciated the programme and congratulated the girls for choosing to be the part of the come and see programme. After the communion the participants expressed their gratitude to God and to all the sisters by singing a thanksgiving hymn to the Lord.
