Auxilium Barasat - A Workshop was conducted for the teachers of Auxilium Barasat on how to make Science more interesting and innovative for children using simple household things - vegetables and fruits. It was organized by the Oxford University Press and the resource person was Mrs. Champa Banerjee, a retired teacher with 28 years of experience.
The programme started at 10.00 am with welcome address followed by a short prayer animated by Sr. Rosy Veliyan, the Principal of the school. The workshop started with a written activity in order to communicate the idea about the lesson. Mrs. Champa used songs and stories to communicate Science. It was an eye opener for the teachers to see how vegetables and fruits can be used to
teach different concepts and principles of Science. She also performed some experiments such as chromatography, variation of density in liquids, expansions of gases, air exerts pressure and hot air rises. Mrs. Champa kept the participants alert and focussed.
